    Focus on FLOW
    Flow

FLOW is the yoga, tai chi and Pilates workout that leaves you feeling long, strong, centered and calm. It is your personal "time out" from the stress and strains of daily life. What is a typical class like? Each class follows a set sequence of exercise disciplines and is made up of 45 minutes of simple yet challenging exercises followed by ten minutes of relaxation and meditation.

Tai chi warm up. Easy flowing moves from the ancient Chinese exercise discipline let you leave your day behind, center yourself and warm the body.

Sun salutations. A traditional yoga sequence that warms your whole body more deeply, stretching and strengthening key muscle groups.

Yoga standing strength. Poses such as warrior pose and triangle pose strengthen and tone your entire body.

Balances. Concentration and focus allow your mind and body to adapt to meet the challenge of balancing poses.

Hip openers. Focuses on stretches to produce greater flexibility and freedom of movement in the hips and lower back.

Core work. Uses exercises from Pilates and yoga to strengthen core abdominal and back muscles.

Twists and forward bends. Poses and stretches to create suppleness and flexibility in the hamstrings and back.

Relaxation and meditation. the final ten minutes deliver the mental and physiological benefits of meditation and enhance the effects of the exercise you have just completed.

What will FLOW do for me?

    • Improve your joint flexibility and range of movement.
    • Increase your core strength.
    • Improve your cardio-vascular function.
    • Burn calories.
    • Reduce your stress levels.
    • Provide a lasting sense of well being and calm.
    • Focus your mind and raise your level of consciousness.
    When will I notice results?

It usually takes about three classes to understand the feel and structure of the class and moves. You may experience some mild muscle soreness at first, but this will quickly pass and be followed by noticeable strength, flexibility gains and postural improvements.

    >From the very first class, you should start to experience the stress reducing and spiritually renewing benefits of FLOW.

Come join us Mondays and Wednesdays at 9 am.
Whether you are 20 or 80, you will fit right in!

    Carob: Chocolate's Healthy Alternative
    Carob

Carob is a wonderful substitute for cocoa. It contains fewer calories, is naturally sweet, and, unlike cocoa or sweet chocolate, is caffeine-free and non-addictive. In addition, it is usually cheaper. Also, unlike cocoa and chocolate, Carob does not interfere with the body's assimilation of calcium. Carob Beans may be roasted and ground for use as a coffee substitute, and Carob is a versatile additive used to flavor jams, liqueurs, juices, and other food products.

Carob is high in fiber and rich in a class of tannins known as polyphenols, which manifest strong antiviral, antiseptic and anti-diarrheal properties. Carob has soothing, mucilaginous qualities that shield mucous membranes from irritating substances.

In France, some early research indicates that Carob may be helpful in stimulating inactive kidneys and may be effective in cases of chronic kidney failure.

    Carob Bars
    1 cup all-natural peanut butter
    1 cup honey
    1 cup carob powder
    7/8 cup sesame seeds
    7/8 cup sunflower seeds (shelled)

Using a 2-quart saucepan over very low heat, warm the peanut butter and honey. Stir constantly. Slowly add carob powder, then seeds. Continue stirring. Turn off heat and spread mixture in an 8” x 8” square baking dish. Refrigerate until cool. Cut into 1” x 1” squares.

Served with fruit or juice, this all-natural high protein treat is great for breakfast in place of breakfast bars or cereal. It also makes a great snack or healthy dessert.

    Meet Brenda Morris!
    Brenda

Most of you probably already know Brenda Morris. She has been around Marble Falls for a long time. She is one of the hardest working people I know. Whether she is volunteering for a charity event, working for a service organization, or hustling around Sana Vida with her very busy restorative skincare practice...she always has a smile on her face and a positive attitude.

Everyday I get the pleasure of working with her. I see how she makes her clients feel better about themselves through her fabulous techniques which are so soothing and comforting or through the education she provides about preventative skincare.

She always puts the clients first and goes above and beyond by coming in early or going home late to accommodate challenging schedules. She puts up with the rest of us by tolerating yoga classes in and out through out the day, Gina turning the air conditioning off which launches her into hot flashes, or the weird music we play.

I love the services she offers and I appreciate her dedication to customer service.

If you want to learn more about Brenda's services please check our website or call her directly at

    Ask Patti

I am stressed all the time. Can acupuncture help me?

The demands of modern living can leave many people feeling stressed-out and anxious. It seems there is always too much to do and not enough time to do it.

There is often more to daily stress than just negative feelings. Such "pressure cooker" living contributes to a host of chronic illnesses and conditions. Too much stress affects the balance of qi in the body, which can lead to high blood pressure, heart disease, headaches, depression and many other stress-related conditions.

While acupuncture cannot change the situations in one's life that are causing the stresses, acupuncture can alter the way in which the body processes and manifests the stress. Acupuncturists, myself included, sometimes recommend periodic acupuncture care to bring qi into balance and keep it that way. These treatments boost the immune system and help replace feelings of stress with a sense of well-being, something everyone desires.

Please email me any questions you may have about acupuncture and
    Chinese Medicine.
