    Restore Your Skin!

    7 SIMPLE STEPS TO SKIN RESTORATION:

    1) Let a professional determine your skin type:
    Oily skin will be oily all over;
    Combination skin will be oily in the "t-zone;"
    Normal skin won't be oily at all;
    Dry skin will be tight and possibly flaky;
    Sensitive skin will look red.

    2) In your morning routine, counter sun and other environmental damage with a moisturizer, vitamin C and sunscreen. At night, fight fine lines with a night cream that has retinoid or peptides.

    3) Follow your aesthetician's instructions. Be careful, the wrinkle and blemish fighting products you purchase from a licensed professional are much stronger than anything you can buy from a department store. More is not better.

    4) Stay positive and don't get discouraged, anti- aging products take 60-90 days to work. Remember, it took years to do the damage -- don't expect results over night.

    5) Eat healthy and drink 10-12 glasses of water a day.

    6) Take a multi-vitamin and Omega 3 supplement.

    7) Exercise at least 30 minutes every day.

    Call Brenda at (512) 755-3906 to get started on the right skin-care plan for you and to find out about package discounts!

    Drink Tea for Good Health

    Tea has been considered a healthful beverage throughout history. Thanks to their polyphenol antioxidants, all three types of tea — white, green, and black — confer impressive preventive health benefits, and modern research provides strong evidence that its reputation as a cancer-fighting agent is warranted. Research results indicate that tea may offer a variety of other benefits, as well:

    • Enhanced immune function
    • Lowered LDL ("bad") cholesterol levels
    • Increased HDL ("good") cholesterol levels
    • Reduced blood pressure
    • Thinner, less clot-prone blood
    • Reduced risk of stroke
    • Enhanced digestion
    • Prevention of dental cavities and gingivitis
    Many of these health benefits stem from the high levels of antioxidant polyphenols in tea, which belong to the same family of healthful polyphenols found in red wine and dark chocolate. Polyphenols neutralize cell-damaging free radicals, which also turn on cancer-promoting genes and oxidize LDL cholesterol, which promotes build up of artery-clogging plaque.

    White tea contains the highest levels of antioxidants, followed by green tea and black tea. White and green teas possess 20 to 30 times the antioxidant potency of vitamins C and E. The longer fermentation that black tea undergoes converts their polyphenols to related antioxidants, primarily theaflavins. These compounds are generally weaker antioxidants, but appear comparably beneficial for heart health and in certain cancer-prevention contexts and in some regards, produce even stronger beneficial effects (e.g., anti-HIV activity).

    Rest assured, you can enjoy a quiet cup of any type of tea and know that you are drinking to your own health.

    We are Here to Help You Stop Smoking!

    So you say you're just a
    "light" smoker?

    Consider these facts:
    When "light" smokers (one to four cigarettes per day) were compared to non smokers in a recent study, men were three times and women five times more likely to die of lung cancer.

    While it is true that cutting back on cigarettes can reduce your risk of lung cancer, most people do not realize that smoking as little as just a few cigarettes a day still increases your risk for a heart attack by over 300%!

    Being exposed to second hand smoke regularly is nearly equivalent to being a "light" smoker.

    We are here to help you or your loved one finally beat this killer with a special program:

    Smoking Cessation Program
    Includes:
    4 Acupuncture Sessions
    40 Days of Herbal Formulas &
    8 Weeks of Ear Tacks,
    Rotated Weekly
    only $350

    Paid for separately, this program would cost $595!

    Please commit yourself today to making further efforts to stop smoking. You can also get help
    by calling the
    American Cancer Society's Quitline
    at 1-877-YES-QUIT.

    "What can be done about blocked, unbalanced Qi?"

    After the initial consultation and examination, the acupuncturist completes the diagnosis and begins carrying out the treatment plan. The objective is to normalize the flow and distribution of Qi and balance its circulation by stimulating the selected acupoints via needles or other means. The treatment plan will most likely call for treating one to twelve or more points on each visit. At the practitioner's discretion, herbal therapies may be prescribed.

    Please email me any questions you may have about acupuncture and
    Chinese Medicine.
