| Gratitude! |
 |
The best part of Thanksgiving is that, beyond meal
preparation, it doesn’t require anything of us but to
gather together with loved ones and be
grateful. We are asked to “be” appreciative without
having to “do” anything. When we are in a state of
gratitude, it seems to exude the power to warm our
hearts and allow us to feel at one with our lives and
those around us. Let us challenge ourselves to move
from one day of Thanksgiving to a lifetime of Thanks-
Living!
When we are truly expressing appreciation for
someone or something, there is a feeling that
radiates from us that has its origins in our heart.
The phrase “heartfelt thanks” best describes the
energy associated with an authentic act of
gratitude. This prayer of the heart opens our lives to
the riches contained within it. When we are grateful,
we become the instruments through which love and
gratitude are expressed.
Giving thanks purifies our emotional response to life
by focusing on love, therefore leaving fear, doubt,
worry, shame, and blame behind. We cannot,
simultaneously, experience appreciation and a
negative feeling. As we continue to be grateful, our
reactions that are lesser, darker, or narrower tend to
weaken and lose their momentum, leaving us free to
be light and loving.
Gratitude is also a great multiplier. Giving thanks and
appreciating all that we have opens the door for us
to have more. If you want more of something in life,
be grateful for what you have. What you put your
attention on grows. When you attend to something
in gratitude,
you will experience more of it.
Thanksgiving allows us to connect to what we are
experiencing from our heart. It is when we
move from our heads to our hearts that we open up
to the sacred in all things and allow ourselves to feel
a sense of oneness with all of life.
Happy Thanks-Living!

| Cranberries: Winter's Tart & Tangy Wonder |
 |
Cranberries are a rich source of vitamin C and
it's been known for a long time that cranberries may
help prevent some infections, such as urinary tract
infections, and now there's evidence that their
potent bacteria fighting antioxidant properties may
play a role in warding off gum disease and some
types of ulcers.
Although cranberry juice cocktail is widely available,
it is full of sugar and not the type you would utilize
for medicinal reasons. Try unsweetened
cranberry juice concentrate (even available at HEB!)
diluted with water or sparkling water (approx. 1 tsp.
to 1 Tbsp per large glass of water).
DID YOU KNOW?
Although we can only get fresh cranberries during
this time of the year, you can stock up on them (if
room allows) by freezing them for up to a year.
There is nothing more
refreshing in the summer than cranberry salsa and
arugula on a turkey sandwich! YUM!
Fresh Cranberry Salsa
1 1/2 cups fresh cranberries
2 green onions, minced
1 jalapeño pepper, minced
1/3 cup sugar
3 tablespoons minced fresh mint or 1 tablespoon
crushed dried mint
3 tablespoons fresh lime juice
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
Position slicing disc in a food processor. Place
cranberries in the food chute and slice, applying light
pressure with the food pusher.
Combine cranberries and the remaining ingredients in
a small bowl and toss gently. Cover and chill for
several hours before serving. Delicious with sweet
potato chips as an appetizer, or with turkey or pork
sandwiches. ENJOY!
Yield: 1 cup

| Restorative Skincare: Microdermabrasion |
 |
Microdermabrasion utilizes aluminum oxide crystals to
gently sandblast the skin's surface, lifting off
dead
skin cells, oil and other dulling debris. A wand-like
tool exerts high pressure to slough skin and vacuum
away debris. The combination of abrasion and
suction stimulates collagen production, helping
improve fine lines and minor scars.
A 15-30 minute Microdermabrasion procedure may
leave
skin slightly pink for a day. It leaves skin
smooth, glowing and healthy for a week or longer.
Moisturizer is absorbed easier and make-up
application is smoother. After 5 to 6 monthly
treatments, skin is smooth and glows for 4 to 6
weeks. To schedule your microdermabrasion, call
Brenda directly at (512) 755-3906.

Thanks for the Yoga Mats! |
|
|
|
I wanted to pass along the sign that Katy Brickey's
2nd Grade Class at Marble Falls Elementary sent us
expressing their gratitude for their new yoga mats.
I have been teaching yoga to her class for a couple
of months. During our first
few classes we did our yoga on a hard and cold
floor. Katy and I sprung into action and started
asking for donations (and those that know me very
well, know that that is not one of my better skills!)
Between Sana Vida clients and some generous
people at the school, we quickly raised enough
money to buy 25 mats for the kids. They were so
excited and appreciative. They love the yoga. It is
amazing for me to watch these young children
struggling with a pose, staying serious and
maintaining
their focus even while their little legs are trembling.
They feel very accomplished at the end. Ms. Brickey
also appreciates the calmness that it generates!
Thank you everyone for your kind
generosity!

How Do You Know Which Acupoints To Treat?
The primary treatment goal of Traditional Chinese
Medicine is to unblock qi and also achieve its
equilibrium within and between the meridians, so the
body can heal itself. Therefore, the crux of the
matter is where to access and stimulate the
meridians in relation to a given health
problem.
Repeated experience in similar cases provides the
acupuncturist with many tried and proven formulas.
In addition, traditional formulas fitting each diagnosis
are readily available in charts and books--these have
worked through the ages and confirm which
acupoints to treat.
